as time goes by
did I already post this .......its bugging me that I cannot get the right commentary with the right image
top left corner prior to second wheat paste
tttttttttttttape lines and silver....left side
tea stained ephemera wheat pasted to painted bed sheet
surface

this is a line of stained sheets running in front of the painting on which they will find themselves.....I am waiting for them to dry while I write my summary and my plan for the semester

tea staining sheets of paper I purchased at the beauty supply shop.
I borrowed the idea of the papers from Mark Bradford. They are cheap and you get thousands in lots of different sizes.
I love the warm caramel tones of red rose.
The tin pan I am using begins to react to the tea and adds darker gray tones. I also stain some pages from vintage ephemera I have collected.

Base layer wheat paste. The fabric begins to firm up like paper but then I rip up some of the paper to reveal the painted surface below. reverse excavation. the ares where the paper is removed begins to pucker and bulge...turning itself back into fabric.

After one layer of wheat pasted newspaper. Tape lines.

Relax.........Be uncomfortable.
This is the new beginning.
Sized, primed, painted twin flat sheet.

Residency number two is over!

Beginning anew ,I thought it appropriate to post my morning commute. What you see beyond the straps on the aft deck of the boat is sea smoke. A natural phenomena which happens when the air temperature is much lower than the water temp. beyond the smoke, the island where I live and the rising sun. These are all gifts.
this is the stack of pages from the book...the house of cards stacked.
the end of the first semester.........
